Short description.
The Environmental Deterioration (ED) rating system will vary depending on whether the structural item's materials are metallic or non-metallic.

For metals, you will rate the material's sensitivity to different Potential Corrosion Types (PCT) such as pitting, fretting, erosion, etc. You will also need to rate the sensitivity to Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC), the degree of protection and the level of exposure to corrosive substances.

For non-metals, you will rate the material's sensitivity to different Potential Environmental Damage Types (PED) such as humidity, solar, lightning, etc. You will also need to rate the ability to detect damage, the degree of protection and the level of exposure to an adverse environment.

Environmental Deterioration Analysis
