Duane Model
The Duane model is based on an observation by J.T. Duane. While plotting test data from generators, hydro-mechanical devices and aircraft jet engines, Duane observed that the cumulative failure rate vs. cumulative test time was linear on a log-log plotting paper. Therefore, he proposed the use of a learning curve to model changes in the system’s reliability over time. The parameters of the Duane model are estimated using least squares. |
