ReliaSoft’s RBI software facilitates risk based inspection (RBI) analysis for oil & gas, chemical and power plants in adherence to the principles and guidelines presented in the American Petroleum Institute's recommendations in the API RP 580 and RP 581 publications. Deviations from API RP 580 and 581 are documented.
The software was designed with the specific needs of oil & gas, chemical and power plants in mind, RBI provides full-featured support for reliability centered maintenance analysis (RCM) together with a flexible and intuitive interface for risk based inspection (RBI) analysis.
RBI Standard API RP 581
API RP 581 was the first RBI-standard to be published in May of 2000. Later it was revised in September of 2008 to a the three part document listed below.
- Part 1: Inspection Planning
- Part 2: Probability of Failure
- Part 3: Consequence Analysis
API RP 581 was developed for performing quantitative RBI within the petrochemical industry. The scope is limited to this type of industry’s most common media, process conditions and types of equipment. For these specific conditions proper calculation formulas were derived and reference tables were set up within API RP 581.
RBI Standard API RP 580
The first edition was created in May of 2002, after the development of API 581. It provides overall guidelines on developing an RBI program, but does not cover quantitative RBI assessment. The purpose was to supplement the following publications while listing the requirements needed to perform an RBI analysis without demonstrating how to perform such an analysis.
- API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspection Code
- API 570 Piping Inspection Code
- API 653 Tank Inspection, Repair, Alteration and Reconstruction
It can be described as a rough checklist for performing a qualitative RBI analysis.
